I’m going to hunt the internets for more site soon, but I thought I’d give a holler to the vintage photo sites that occupy my spare time at work (and, right now, during breakfast).
One of my favorites and the most varied, Swapatorium: A Journey Through Junkland, is sadly temporarily closed. Angelica, my best wishes to you and your family.
Shorpy’s is always nice, and the layout and navigation are easy. I really like their focus on workers and the real feeling of a past era, and their contextual blurbs. This is my latest fav, although there are so many.
Square America I tend to forget about, and then I’m always wow-ed when I go back. They focus on a bit later time period than the others I look at, and have more color.
I’m not quite sure how I feel about these vintage postcards of New York City, but they’re at least interesting.
